Is Therapy helpful for expats living abroad?

Yes. Therapy offers a space to process cultural adjustment, identity changes, and emotional challenges related to living abroad.

Why do I feel unsettled even if my life abroad is going well?

Emotional experiences do not always match external circumstances. Living between cultures can create subtle but meaningful internal shifts that take time to process.

Can therapy help with raising children abroad?

Yes. Therapy can support parents in navigating cultural differences, identity questions, and the emotional experience of raising children in a different country.

Living abroad can bring meaningful experiences & opportunities for growth.

At the same time, we may notice moments of disconnection, loneliness, or a sense of not belonging

— between cultures, places, or even within ourselves.

Grief & Loss

Modern Reception Area

Long periods of Waiting

Becoming a parent

Parenthood can reshape identity, relationships, and daily life. It may bring joy, pressure, exhaustion, and unexpected emotional challenges.

Separation or divorce

The end of a relationship can involve grief, uncertainty, and changes in identity, routines, and future plans.

Retirement or career change

Changes in professional life can raise questions about purpose, direction, stability, and self-worth.

Loss of a loved one

Grief can affect emotions, thoughts, and the body in different ways. It may come in waves and shift over time.

Loss of a pet

The loss of an animal companion can be deeply painful and sometimes misunderstood by others.

Loss of health or physical ability

Changes in health can impact independence, identity, and emotional well-being.

Long Periods of Waiting

Waiting for immigration or residency decisions. Uncertainty around legal status or relocation can create ongoing stress, lack of control, and emotional strain.

Waiting for medical or psychological care

Delays in receiving support or diagnosis can increase anxiety, frustration, and feelings of helplessness.

Feeling stuck in uncertainty

When there is no clear timeline or resolution, it can lead to overthinking, emotional fatigue, and difficulty moving forward.

Why do I feel disconnected or unsettled living abroad?

Living in a different culture can create a sense of dislocation — even when life appears stable from the outside.

Differences in language, social norms, and support systems can affect how individuals experience belonging and connection.

Therapy provides a space to explore these experiences and reconnect with a sense of identity, stability, and emotional grounding.

What to Expect

Free Consultation

Ongoing Online Sessions

A Clear Path Forward

This is a brief introductory call where you can share what’s bringing you to therapy and ask any questions you may have. We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, what you’re hoping to shift, and whether working together feels aligned.

There’s no obligation. Just space to connect, clarify your needs, and make an informed decision. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. This call is designed to make that first step easier.

Sessions are typically held weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs and goals. Together, we’ll create a space where you can process culture shock, identity shifts, relationship dynamics, stress, or whatever feels most present for you.

Because sessions are held securely online, you can access therapy from wherever you are in the world,  whether you’re newly relocated, traveling frequently, or living long-term overseas.

Therapy isn’t just about talking — it’s about building understanding and movement. Together, we’ll work to help you:

  • Feel more emotionally grounded

  • Make sense of your reactions

  • Strengthen relationships

  • Rebuild a sense of belonging

  • Move through transition with more confidence

You don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. With the right support, living abroad can feel expansive instead of overwhelming.
