About me

My name is Jey Kirouac.  I am a French Canadian Person-Centered Therapist living in Guadalajara, Mexico, and a single mom to a spirited, energetic boy.

Therapeutic and relational work has long been a meaningful part of my life.  Through my own experiences in therapy, I’ve come to understand how impactful it can be to feel truly heard and supported.  This is something I now offer to others, with care and intention.

With each person I meet, I hold a deep sense of respect for the trust being given.  As one of my teachers expressed, clients offer something “precious”—and I receive this with attentiveness and reverence.

I offer a relational, humanistic space for individuals moving through difficult periods—where experiences can be shared, met, and accompanied with compassion.

My work is grounded in presence, emotional awareness and the therapeutic relationship.  When something is expressed and received in this way, it often becomes less heavy to carry.

I welcome individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures.

Sessions are offered online, from the comfort of your home.

Academic & Professional Background & Development

I hold a degree in psychology and completed a three-year professional training in Montréal in a humanistic, experiential, and relational therapeutic approach. This training was rooted in person-centred principles inspired by Carl Rogers, with experiential and Gestalt-informed influences. I continue to deepen my clinical knowledge through online Continuing Professional Development courses with PESI UK.

I recently completed the Life Transitions Specialist Certificate: Clinical Skills for Life Changes that Cause Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Identity Shifts & More.

I am currently continuing my studies through two additional trainings: Certification in Somatic Therapy for Attachment Trauma: Repattern Insecure, Anxious, Avoidant, & Disorganized Attachment Styles for Rapid Trauma Healing, and Mastering Polyvagal Theory for Trauma Professionals: A Start-to-Finish Trauma Certification Program.

My work is informed by ongoing learning, supervision, and continued exposure to perspectives such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), existential therapy, CBT, and psychoanalytic thought, without the use of prescriptive techniques or treatment protocols.

As seen in the footer, you can find my profile in the International Therapist Directory (ITD), Therapy Route, Google Business Profile and the English-speaking community through This Week in GDL. (TWIG),

My approach

My approach is relational, experiential, and grounded in presence.

Sessions are conversational and unfold at a pace that respects what is alive in the moment. Rather than directing or fixing, I stay close to lived experience as it emerges — thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations — creating space for reflection, emotional awareness, and self-connection.

Many people experience sessions as an intentional pause: a place to slow down, be met without judgment, and explore what is often carried alone.

How I Work

My work is grounded in a person-centered, humanistic, and experiential approach, with a strong focus on the here and now.  While experiences from the past may naturally arise and are welcomed, what matters most is how they are lived and felt in the present — in emotions, bodily sensations, language, and in the relational space between us.

I offer a welcoming, respectful therapeutic environment shaped by attentive, whole-hearted listening.  Emotions are met as they emerge, named when helpful, and accompanied with care — including what feels uncertain, difficult, or unclear.

My role is not to direct or interpret, but to be present with you in your lived experience:

The therapeutic relationship itself is central.  Sessions unfold through presence, relational depth, and authenticity, creating a space where nothing needs to be performed, fixed, or achieved.  At times, I may share gentle observations — such as noticing emotional shifts or recurring relational themes — always in service of awareness and clarity.

Sessions are adapted to each individual and moment. There is no single method applied to everyone; the process unfolds according to personality, emotional accessibility, and the life situation being navigated.

Rather than following protocols or offering advice, attention is given to thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and internal signals as they arise.  This supports emotional awareness, self-connection, and a clearer, more respectful relationship with oneself and with others.

Potted Plants Indoors

My story

I grew up between countries as a Third Culture Kid, navigating questions of identity, belonging, and feeling “in between.”  Those early experiences shaped my sensitivity to emotional complexity and my respect for each person’s inner world.

Life has also brought me through significant transitions, relational challenges, and periods of emotional weight.  These lived experiences continue to inform how I sit with others — with humility, presence, and an understanding that no one should have to carry everything alone.

Let's meet!

Before beginning, I offer a brief introductory conversation to explore whether working together feels right.

This is a mutual fit conversation, not a commitment.
